The main issue with Matt Gaetz is that he used his office to prosecute his political opponents and authorized federal agents to harass parents who were peacefully protesting at school board meetings.
Oh wait, that's actually Merrick Garland, the current attorney general.
Republicans will be like, "You believe in DEI? That pales in comparison to my strategy, simply hiring the most competent people" and then not hire competent people
That was a cataclysm. Electoral map wipeout. Senate D practical ceiling is now 52 seats. R's is 62.
Time to rebuild the left.
We are out of touch with the crisis of meaning/purpose fueling MAGA. We refuse to pick big fights. Our tent is too small.
1/ Some early thoughts:
There are many takes about what caused Tuesday’s red wave. Several are bad. As someone in a district Biden carried by 10 points in 2020 and that Trump may have won this week, I can tell you the Democratic Party’s brand is in shambles in the suburbs and a big reason is the border.
I’ve said this before the election but just so there’s no doubt, Kamala Harris is the one person I do not blame much for this debacle. She was put in an impossible situation, still ran an effective campaign, and may have saved the party from losing 4 more Senate seats (maybe 5).
Economists are going to have to reckon with the fact that the public would have preferred a slower recovery with much higher unemployment, as long as prices had been stable.
