I am so sorry to all the @BCFamilyDoctors Now @adriandix will pay a pharmacist more than you do ONE THING renew some Rx. Your plumber, massage therapist, hair stylist all charge you by time. Specialists are the same, no matter how much time and procedures the fee is the same.
@jtgoodchild @kim_siever Jim, in BC, family docs aren’t paid well enough to keep their offices running. It worsens by the day. I could do a lot of other work as an FP and be paid better. I persist with hopes of better times ahead but if it doesn’t change soon we will be forced out of this type of work.
@jjhorgan Why is my patient with metastatic cancer still on a wait list to even get an appointment at the cancer agency 7-8 weeks after referral? He is deteriorating at home without any option for treatment. Don’t tell me our healthcare system works. It sucks! I’m disgusted. Be ashamed!
@jtgoodchild @steeletalk If I close my office to honour the day then 40-50 patients now don’t get the care they have an appointment for. Rebooking them may take weeks to months to achieve. Now I have to pay double time to staff for the same work. I don’t get any added pay for working the holiday myself!
"Germany has one healthcare administrator for every 15,545 citizens. Canada has one health-care administrator for every 1,415 citizens."
And in Can. BC has the highest # of administrators of any prov.
We have the funds we just aren't using if on actual patient care #bcpoli
It is time to trust the professional judgement of BC Family doctors to practice family medicine (as Specialists do under the FFS system). Fix the gross fee disparity of FP/GP vs Specialists by increasing the GP fees to respect time and complexity of holistic patient care. 5/
Hard to reconcile a $1.3B surplus announced by @BCGovNews with the ongoing exodus of @BCFamilyDoctors who have been chronically underfunded & undervalued for years.

@DrRitaMc Important to listen to what all family docs want as no two family doctors are alike. Some want control on how the clinics run, others want to go to work and go home. We must support all options.
Fair compensation to family docs for the infrastructure they provide is vital.
@DrRitaMc The devil is in the details. Solid evidence about what will happen financially needs to arrive. Will it be enough? If it falls short I will take my own actions. Quite frankly I’m fed up with their delays and politics. We deserve respect and payment to keep us doing this work.
Politicians have ruined universal healthcare. Time to ban their direct involvement. Would we be better served by an independent board composed of healthcare workers, patients, and non partisan government appointees making decisions? Mandatory audits on project effectiveness?
Our IT guy has joined a big group. We always had reliable support from him. Trying to find an alternative to keep our clinics running. I suspect I’m in for sticker shock. Will this be the line item that brings us down? Everyone else gets paid in $ for 2023. I get paid 1983 $
@PennyDaflos@CTVVancouver Thank you Penny. The minister of health should have a daily briefing on a bigger than covid crisis. There are still UPCC doing little/empty. Many MD prefer to hire their own staff, who can be superheroes for patient care, rather than be hired and regulated by human resources
If BC CLFP is the patient AND in cardiac arrest. @adriandix@jjhorgan have decided to go for tea at the Empress before starting CPR. Don’t come late to the game and expect miraculous results.
