Saka’s talent profile is unique that’s why people have a hard time appreciating it. It’s different to anything most of us have seen before. He’s is not “skilled” in the way past greats have been, in their combination of silky feet, explosiveness or savage finishing.
What Saka has is an otherworldly football IQ. We’ve rarely seen a footballer whose core attribute is decision making in a way that pace is to Mbappe or that goal scoring is to Haaland. Saka’s special quality is that he maximizes every play for the best result _ and he does that an all time level.
Saka has the ability to quickly learn what a phase of play needs and has the quality to deliver just about what the play needs. So when he delivers a cross to the far post without the “Yamal-spice” people get too busy comparing, that they lose focus on the actual skill _ the ability constantly deliver that same cross to that same spot multiple times a game, and to know exactly when to do it _ In his game there’s rarely ever an “over-dribble or generally any action that squanders or regresses play. This is why he keeps popping up in every great statistical chart alongside HOF-caliber players.
We are devastated to learn that our former striker Kevin Campbell has died after a short illness.
Kevin was adored by everyone at the club. All of us are thinking of his friends and family at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Kevin ❤️
🗞️ | Lewis Hamilton has shared to his Instagram Story a post that calls for the accountability of English Media and in support of Bukayo Saka.
“We need to hold the English media accountable for systemically vilifying Black players. The constant scapegoating of Black players needs to stop. This endemic racial discrimination has no place in football, yet countless news outlets suggest otherwise.”
