Some of the Images being shared as those of the kidnapped schoolkids of Oyo state were of maltreated kids in Mali
Pictures taken in Mali in June 2020, when a teacher flogged his young students, have been shared on social media to make people believe they are the pictures of the abducted Oyo students, an analysis by Africa54Research has revealed.
The distributors of the images are most probably terrorists' sympathisers, out to sow fears in our society and paint the government and the security forces black, as the government is making efforts to get the kids and their teachers released.
Yesterday, as I was about to step out, my mother was busy helping me perfect my dress, making sure everything was just right. No matter how old we get, a mother’s care, attention and love remain unmatched.
Thank you, Mummy, for always being there, for the little things that mean so much, and for the endless love and support. May Allah bless you with good health and a long life. ❤️
This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu. This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform.

PRESS RELEASE
19th May, 2026
FG COMMENCES PAYMENT OF BEA SCHOLARS’ ALLOWANCES, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NIGERIAN STUDENTS ABROAD
In fulfillment of its commitment to the welfare and academic success of Nigerian students studying abroad, the Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of approved outstanding 2025 allowances to beneficiaries of the now terminated Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme in partner countries.
The Federal Ministry of Education wishes to inform the general public, particularly Nigerian scholars under the BEA Scholarship Programme, that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has successfully remitted the approved funds to Nigerian Embassies and Missions for immediate disbursement to eligible beneficiaries.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa CON, disclosed that the released funds represent 50 percent of the approved outstanding obligations for 2025, while efforts are ongoing to facilitate the release of the balance in due course.
According to the Honourable Minister, the funds have already reached the respective embassy accounts, and the affected embassies are expected to commence immediate payment to eligible scholars. Beneficiaries are therefore advised to monitor their accounts as payments are expected to begin reflecting accordingly.
Dr. Alausa noted that the development reflects the unwavering commitment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the welfare, academic progress and wellbeing of Nigerian students abroad, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
The Honourable Minister appreciated the patience, understanding and resilience demonstrated by the affected scholars, stressing that the Federal Government remains resolute in ensuring that no Nigerian student pursuing academic excellence under government scholarship schemes is left unsupported.
The Federal Government further reiterates its commitment to fulfilling all legitimate obligations to Nigerian scholars and sustaining policies and interventions that promote access to quality education, student welfare and national development through strategic human capital advancement.

On May 17, 2026, U.S. Africa Command, in coordination with the Government of Nigeria, conducted additional kinetic strikes against ISIS in Northeastern Nigeria.
Intelligence confirmed the targets were ISIS militants. Complete assessments are ongoing. No U.S. or Nigerian forces were harmed.
The removal of these terrorists diminishes the group’s capacity to plan attacks that threaten the safety and security of the U.S. and our partners.
AFRICOM remains committed to leveraging specialized U.S. capabilities in support of our partners to defeat shared security threats.
STATEHOUSE STATEMENT
Counterterrorism Operation Against ISIS senior leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki
Overnight, Nigeria and the United States recorded a significant example of effective collaboration in the fight against terrorism.
Our determined Nigerian Armed Forces, working closely with the Armed Forces of the United States, conducted a daring joint operation that dealt a heavy blow to the ranks of the Islamic State.
Early assessments confirm the elimination of the wanted IS senior leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, along with several of his lieutenants, during a strike on his compound in the Lake Chad Basin
Nigeria appreciates this partnership with the United States in advancing our shared security objectives. I extend my sincere gratitude to President Trump for his leadership and unwavering support in this effort.
I commend the personnel involved on both sides for their professionalism and courage, and I look forward to more decisive strikes against all terrorist enclaves across the nation.

Play Your Politics, But Stay Out of Zacch Adedeji’s Way, He is a Technocrat
By Arábìnrin Adérónke
I have had the privilege of working closely with Zacch Adedeji and I speak from direct experience when I say he is a refined professional, a disciplined technocrat, and a results driven leader. He is not a career politician, and it is both unfair and misleading to drag his name into the noise and theatrics of political contests.
Zacch Adedeji is a goal getter in the truest sense, strategic, intentional, and deeply focused on outcomes. His work ethic is not for show, it is consistent, methodical, and anchored in measurable impact. In a short time, he has contributed significantly to reshaping revenue administration and improving national revenue performance through systems, structure, and accountability, not slogans or political grandstanding.
As someone born and raised in Ibadan, I have followed the current political climate with keen interest like always. What I see is deeply concerning, rising bitterness, unnecessary aggression, and a growing tendency to weaponize names for cheap political points. Let this be clear, Zacch Adedeji’s name should not be part of that conversation.
He is fully engaged in the national assignment entrusted to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That responsibility is weighty, technical, and demands his full attention. Attempting to pull him into local political battles is not only inappropriate, it is a distraction from critical national work. Play your politics. Build your alliances. Strengthen your structures. Sell your vision. That is what campaigns are for. But leave him out of it.
Elections will come and go, as they always do. What will remain are institutions, policies, and the long term work of nation building. Zacch Adedeji is focused on that work. He is not available for political mudslinging, and he should not be treated as a pawn in anyone’s campaign strategy.
If you seek his support, approach with respect and decorum. No one is obligated to endorse or align with any political ambition. A refusal is not an invitation for insults, attacks, or public hostility. That kind of conduct only diminishes the credibility of those who engage in it.
This is a firm caution, keep his name out of your political battles. Redirect your energy toward your campaigns, your ideas, and your engagement with the people. Leave professionals to do their jobs, and let merit, not noise, define the moment.
