They’ve been dumping shit in the rivers for six years and the punishment is a fine smaller than the CEO’s annual bonus. We get the sewage and the price rises, they get the dividends. It fucking stinks, in more ways than one.
The RNLI issue might be the bleakest of UK issues. A LIFEBOAT charity. Doctors don’t check whether they approve of you before treating you. Firefighters don’t ask whether you deserve saving. The minute emergency help becomes conditional, we are in very VERY dark territory.
and sometimes kids need to know they're being annoying. like it's ok to tell a child that the thing they're doing over and over again stopped being funny the second time around. it's not going to ruin their life
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know what’s going on with millennial parenting because I’m not a parent, but I’m subjected to you guys’ children and there is something wrong with the way these children see adults. they think we are their equals and I’m here to tell you, I am not.
@unintrstngcritt Well you choosing to be patronising, & ignore the context of the discussion prompted these responses. It’s not ‘neutral’, it’s an active choice to ignore your environment. Idc if ppl do it bc im not afraid to ask for a seat, but don’t pretend ppl aren’t hoping that won’t happen
@folkflora13@fayeabenaa I know this is complicated but it's actually a totally fine and neutral act for a person to look downwards while on public transport.
@unintrstngcritt Except I wasn’t talking about a person just putting their head down. I was talking about a person on a packed train ignoring fellow passengers standing up when they have an empty seat next to them. In that situation they either lack awareness or community spirit
@fayeabenaa There’s a genre of person who takes an aisle seat, puts their head down, hopes no one is gonna pluck up the courage to ask and ignores how full the train is. The ppl we see on the busy trains are the ones who do this, otherwise someone’d be sat there - surely that’s self absorbed
@cloudysprinkles Had a little leaving drinks at work and one person came - everyone else cancelled that evening and only because I sent a reminder text lol
Missed my train connection because my first train was delayed, so I understandably got on the next train to my destination. Jobsworth conductor charged me for the whole ticket because I was supposed to wait a whole HOUR to use the same rail provider. Nationalisation now please.
