🎙️ | leah williamson on diversity in the women’s game compared to the men’s:
“we are 100% lacking diversity in the women's game. there's a lot more restrictions for girls of different ethnic groups. ‘bend it like beckham’ is a perfect example of the barriers. and there's extra barriers in place in certain cultures or religions. then you've got the money, and getting the kids out to these academies. you look at arsenal’s youth academy [for boys], hale end, which is london, accessible by tube, cheaper travel. the women's [for 16-19] is in hertfordshire. when i played, a lot of my teammates, going through the age groups, just stopped at some point, because it became too expensive. it's wrong because you're missing out on loads and loads of talent.”

“we shouldn’t be putting money in the pocket of inhumane legislation right now through she that shall remain nameless.”
“Some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting,’ but didn’t it ever occur to you that maybe ‘YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME, DAD!’”

watching Little Women and relating so hard to Jo because she thought platonic love was all she needed to be happy then watched everyone she loves prioritise romantic love before her and realizing how lonely she was without romance despite how much she detested wanting it.
dance, opera, theatre, and musicals being so openly disrespected nowadays is insane to me. you can’t say you want old hollywood back but then not appreciate what compounded it in the first place. can’t say you’re cultured and into film art but find at half of these dreadful.
the only difference bw you and the people being torn apart by the settler colonial death machine is sheer luck. there's nothing inherent to you that makes you more deserving of safety. it could just as easily have been you and that arbitrariness should haunt you, not comfort you.
