I left home that morning in very high spirits. The ten minutes walk to my office was full of singing and rejoicing. The weather was friendly that morning. It had rained the previous night. The mild morning sun and the cool breeze was a perfect blend for a perfect morning.

But I got the shock of my life when I opened the office door- the entire office was flooded. The rug was soaked. Some of my books were soaked in water. I froze. Thoughts came rushing. Tears wanted to flow as I pondered on that short moment on negative thoughts- “There is no one to help you”; “Is your life even making any sense”, “Is this not a sign that something is wrong?”

But I remembered at that moment that “I am not sad because things are bad; things are bad because I am sad”. I chose joy! I sat in the midst of the flooded office for a moment. I said a prayer of thanksgiving knowing it could have been worse. I sang to the Lord. I made a mental list of those who could help. I called and they all responded. I could not use the office for some days but after then, I returned to a cleaner rug and office.

If you will attain your dreams, the first thing to get rid of are terrible choices. Truly, there are things we do not get to choose in life- Our Family and our place of birth but there are a lot more that are left to us.

There are choices that lead to rejoicing.
There are choices that lead to regrets.

Everyday you will get to make choices:

*“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses…Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT*

You make the choice to learn financial disciplines or you choose the part of financial planlessness and recklessness. You have nothing set aside as savings and for investment.

You choose whether you would wake up daily and do something that takes us closer to our dreams or you just live life as it comes.

You choose your friends. Friendship has never been forced. It is by choice.

You choose to love or to hate. You choose your response to life’s challenges. You choose whether it will weigh you down for life or you will rise above it.

You choose whether to accept correction or hate correction. You choose whether to love instructions or to ignore instructions.

You choose whether you will be led by the Spirit of God or you will lean on your own wisdom and the flesh.

But if you constantly make bad choices in life, do not expect to make it to a great end.
