Today, I delivered the State of the State Address at the Ekiti State House of Assembly as part of activities marking the second anniversary of our administration. I am pleased to share that we have taken bold strides forward in all key sectors, thanks to the support from everyone in Ekiti.
In the past two years, we have made significant progress in areas like security, agriculture, education, human capital development and economic development. Our six-pillar development agenda, complemented by the Ekiti Development Plan 2021-2050 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has positioned Ekiti as a model state.
On the economic front, the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, supported by the African Development Bank, and the recent approval of our Free Trade Zone are creating thousands of jobs. We have empowered our MSMEs with substantial grants and credit facilities, including N1 billion for Ekiti women, helping to stimulate small-scale businesses.
Education has also been our top priority, with over 2,000 teachers recruited and more than N14 billion spent on school infrastructure. We have provided free exam fees for over 150,000 students and paid substantial running grants to public schools. We have also invested significantly in our security architecture, ensuring the safety of lives and property. With more troops, equipment for Amotekun, and the establishment of the Agro Marshals Corps, Ekiti is safer for our people and more attractive to investors.
Our progress is clear, and I am thankful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his relentless support for our administration. My appreciation also goes to my immediate predecessor in office, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who institutionalised the State of the State Address in Ekiti, which has served as a veritable platform for accountability.
I am humbled by the endorsement of the Assembly members. To me, that is a vote of confidence in our administration, for which we are grateful and humbled. Our social contract with the people remains steadfast.
Together, we will continue to build the Ekiti of our dreamsβone that honours our founding fathersβ vision and improves every residentβs life. Letβs keep moving forward!
Every day, we meet exceptional people who inspire us to greatness against all odds
