@HendrickD82 Dave, they barely have the testicular fortitude to sign / keep players with spines, let alone managers.
I like the idea, but what a pity it is but a fool’s hope.
As someone who appealed at length last season for Mo Salah to get his flowers, this superb piece captures it magnificently.
Thanks to @SimonBrundish for this. It gives me hope that the Egyptian king’s legacy will age in the way he fully deserves.
And now reliant on some crazy exception of having a quarter of one league in the expanding champions league to try and sneak in…
This is either 2005 reborn or a failed season in anticipation. And I very much doubt the former.
It’s been over 2 months since the Forest defeat.
This will continue to worsen & United / Chelsea were always likely to catch up in spite of their own improvements.
And the transfers windows look worse with each passing result.
Not sure Hughes & Edwards escape responsibility.
I was willing to forgive the last one because even though it was shambolic, it was still Man City, who shouldn’t be underestimated in any circumstance.
Even if they win 3-2 now by some miracle, I’m done. Between Slot & Hughes, the wrong players were signed for the intended…
To be 6th,
regardless of the improvements of teams around you,
having spent over 400m (gross spend is materially relevant here),
having made flawed decisions with squad construction (CB backup, DM, RB, LW),
still with a tactical creativity problem to solve months later…
@malla_91@fc_mossman@SimonBrundish I’ve been saying this to any who ask me. Trent was crucial systemically, the evidence is shown even when he played badly (United game).
The plan to replace his “role” systemically is either flawed or poorly executed.
Either way, that’s the gap
… I could go on.
You can make it about Salah.
Or maybe ask if one guy with the balls to say the unpopular thing & put his entire LFC legacy on the line, is either a sanctimonious a-hole, or trying to shine a light on something which needs a bit more than patience to solve.
Regardless of whether you agree with it or not, Salah has the gravitas & profile that gets attention, & his choice to speak suggests that other attempts have been unsuccessful or likely perceived pointless (we don’t really know).
But let’s not pretend he’s the only one who…
…Isak (not being served & yes, criticize his effort & fitness, but 100m is a lot of money to spend on someone who you expect to somehow just “fit”), Wirtz (who has the added pressure of being the creative answer to the gap of Trent), Konate (who isn’t deserving to start)…
Problem is he’s not a 6 & never has been, even last season. Certainly would have been a tactical priority to get a proper 6 given the nature of the players purchased at LB, RB, CAM.
@SimonBrundish@TaintlessRed This is 99% of the problem, especially when taking the signings into consideration. The players don’t fit the plan, assuming the plan is indeed deliberate.
…system & the fallback plans are laughable at best. Whatever changed on the sideline between this season & last, it needs to change again. You can’t compete for top 4 like this, let alone a title.
