This couple says it's time to stop buying into narratives that paint South Africa 🇿🇦 as xenophobic, war-torn, poverty-stricken, and unsafe. They believe those portrayals distort the country's reality and unfairly damage its reputation.
A true Ghanaian, one who is addressing the real issues in his own country instead of wasting time lobbying against ours. That is the kind of leadership we need to see. Instead of pointing fingers at South Africa, he is looking inward, asking the hard questions, and demanding accountability from his own people instead of building churches and mosques they should be building their country. He understands that Ghana's problems will not be solved by blaming others, they will be solved by confronting the corruption, the tribalism, and the incompetence that have held the country back. This is the difference between a patriot and a propagandist. We respect the patriot. We have no time for the propagandist. ✊🏾

To get rid of illegal Nigerians, send these private security companies to Hillbrow, Mayfair, Sunnyside, and Sandton. I'm sure we are left with 500 million after 100 million was used on the 30th .
Every year, Africans working abroad send billions of dollars back home. Nigeria receives over US$21 billion in remittances annually. Zimbabwe, Uganda, the DRC, Ghana, Lesotho and others also rely heavily on money sent by citizens living overseas. This conversation asks a difficult question: Could African economies create enough opportunity at home, so their people no longer have to leave in the first place?

What many don’t want to acknowledge is that the burden of immigration (illegal or legal) often rests on the shoulders of the poor.
They need to compete for access to schools, clinics, water, electricity, housing etc.
Since I’m in energy, I’ll use load reduction to illustrate.
Which South Africans? You are a senator who pays attention to random social media commentary? What is the OFFICIAL position of the government of South Africa and what is the status quo? Do you know why SA's Health Minister had downplayed the US's PEPFAR withdrawal ANNOUNCEMENT?
Let me educate you. Motsoaledi is chilled because South Africa funds the majority its HIV/AIDS response itself. 74 -80% comes from SA. 17-21% from PEPFAR and 2-7% from Global Fund and other donors.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's government consistently spends well below the 15% of national budgets that AU countries committed to. You have poorly equipped hospitals and clinics, your system operates intermittently with devastating consequences for the poor. You are a popular case study at many global convenings that I moderate.
You have poor sanitation and have the highest malaria burden in the world. Never mind HIV/AIDS. You had poor federal -state coordination for Covid19. I know. I moderated a WHO-AFRICA Summit on this in 2022, in Togo. Your officials and experts were pouring their hearts out.
So shut your trap. Senator.
