Here is an SM lawyer explaining the process. When an artist wants to pursue legal action, their cooperation and presence is necessary throughout the process. This includes personally going to the police station to provide their own statement.

He also explains that this process itself can be one reason some artists choose not to pursue legal action, since it requires their time and active participation.

That’s important context when discussing Winter personally pursuing legal action, especially since her individual case has been ongoing for months.
