@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts a ban that has more downsides than benefits, will likely end up just being used to implement id scanning, and will also be bypassed en masse via VPNs? i struggle to see the rationale
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts eh i'm doing good enough, got an internship starting soon enough in fact! thank you for your well wishes though. (also the curfew and the ban are part of the same piece of legislation)
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts and before youtube people from disadvantaged areas got lower quality education due to a lack of resources. there's a reason that oxbridge admissions used to be a lot more private school dominated (and even now many areas are underrepresented)
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts if it wasn't for certain youtube channels and videos provoking my curiosity and letting me learn more i likely wouldn't have gotten into the university i'm in now
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts my local library didn't have any books on the things i was learning unfortunately! i'm pretty fortunate now that my university library is legal deposit but i still use a lot of youtube for revision
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts we can when we have access to the internet! it is inherently a democratizing institution which is why access to it should be preserved!
@yoongispotatoes@Dylllllllllann@char1iewatts yeah because my school was underfunded and we didn't have a physics teacher for part of our a levels
most of what i learnt that got me into university was from online
@Sir_Moanalot_@ds9trek@iCick_e_Ciak@prestonjbyrne there's still millions of devices and that work and are distributed currently and GOOD LUCK eliminating the grey market for imported devices that will boom as soon as this passes
