I think that people misrepresent (especially Legends) Luke Skywalker a lot.
He's neither some sort of hyper masculine powerfantasy without flaws, nor a bumbling "boyfailure".
Luke, when written well, is a kind and hopeful man that can be both light hearted and severe.
like you can tell the scientists are going fall victim to the plans of the vong but you still wanna hold out hope that they manage to make it through the nightmare they’ve been orchestrated into. it’s horrifying to read what happens to all of them
