LIVE: An estimated 50 pro-Palestine students have gathered outside the Leon Lowenstein Center. One of the speakers so far is Julie Norris FCLC โ19, who was among those arrested on May 1 during an encampment-style protest inside LC.
According to a press release issued this morning by the Fordham for Palestine Coalition, all 15 students and alumni who were arrested on May 1 were slated to attend the rally, with some to issue statements.
BREAKING: Eleven students who were suspended and arrested last week after participating in a protest-style encampment have had their housing, academic and graduation suspensions lifted by Deans of Students after hearings were held on Tuesday, May 7.
Those arrested on Wednesday are currently on the phone and being broadcast to the sit in. They thanked the sit in attendees, and claimed that their were over 1,000 people at Wednesday's protest.
At 6:10, our reporters saw administrative officials on the ground. Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Justin Bell, said, "there is no comment yet," about the sit in happening on campus.
As of 5:20 PM, our reporters have observed that the campus gate at 3rd & Webster is closed to students & press. There is reported to be about 15 Fordham staff, a. majority being public safety, milling around as sidewalk appears vacant.

Fordham Public Safety requested the presence of the New York Police Department (NYPD) in a letter to Deputy Commissioner Legal Matters Michael Gerber on May 1.

All individuals arrested during todayโs encampment on campus have been released from custody. The group of current students and alumni has been charged with misdemeanor trespassing.
