Mr. Dell, You were my first “speed rush” dealer and I’m still hooked. Around April of 1984 I saw your PC Limited ad in PC MAG. Just $550 to get a lightening quick 10 Mb hard drive. I imagined replacing one of my sluggish 360k floppy drives would stop the A-B thrashing sound driving me mad. That single taste of quiet speed started me on a lifetime of highs & lows. The ecstasy of inhaling the smell of fresh electronics. Followed by the euphoric rush of a suddenly faster computer. Depressingly, the speed jolt just made everything else feel like it dragged and my ever unquenchable tolerance grew to demand more and more speed.
I told myself - just one more bottleneck to break and I’ll be satisfied.
The cycle continues.

Was sitting next to my grandfather - born 28 June 1892 on a prosperous farm with water and privy outside. He slept on a straw mattress with 5 brothers. Fields plowed with teams of horses. Grandpa was 11 when the Wright Brothers flew. My father was born in 1927 - the year Philo Farnsworth invented the television we watched. My brother was 2 months old. Then 2 years later, Elon Musk, - catcher of rockets - was born on grandpa’s 79th birthday. And timelines curved.

If you are on an unlimited per-diem Murray’s in Minneapolis is where the big money goes, but Mancini’s in St. Paul has better steaks and as a bonus … the walls are covered with vintage photos of folks from the West 7th neighborhood and a few are standing by old cars. Everything about Mancini’s is real and spectacular. Ask for Pat or John Mancini

@elonmusk Apology Michael. In 1984 off a PC LTD ad in PC MAG you sold me a 10 Mb HD for $599. No upgrade ever felt better than going from a pair of grinding lagging 360k floppy drives to a floppy & a 10Mb HD with instantaneous reads & writes. You never charged my credit card. Sorry.
