@sbf0009 These are all really important suburb gs that we discussed. I also enjoyed looking at the strengths and weaknesses of communities and how it impacts different groups! #SOWK35021

@dailey_seth I agree! It’s really important to u derstand the inner workings of communities and how they function! #SOWK35021

A large concept that we discussed in this course was how community and environment play a large role for the individual. We discussed the functions of community and aspects that contribute to the well-being of a group of people. #SOWK35021

@FialaKendra Hi Kendra! I’m also an addiction studies minor and found so many connections that almost fill in the blanks of certain aspects of the COUN minor. #SOWK35021

@CressMikaylah Hi mikaylah! I also really enjoyed learning about the history of certain areas. I think photo mapping is a great concept for social workers. #SOWK35021

[grace foreback @ForebackGrace]

This week I learned about photo mapping and interpreting census data. I’m really excited to use this in social work practice to better understand key factors in areas that I might be working in in the near future! #sowk35021

@abbi_sowk350 Hi abbi! I’m glad you’re bringing attention to a topic that hasn’t been the highlight of the news recently. I agree, no child should be treated as a criminal. #sowk35021

@CarneyKamrynn This tweet is very relevant to these times. It would be selfish to disregard the rising cases that are still affecting thousands of individuals. Many are under the impression that covid isn’t as big of an issue anymore but that’s clearly not the case. Great post!

I think this article about the effects covid has had on mental health is very important right now. Individuals across the globe all deserve the right to proper mental health care regardless of geographic location.

(Sowk # 3) I think that the best leaders are people who are motivational, compassionate, and understanding, regardless of pay grade or job.
This article by Forbes explains “leadership has nothing to do with titles”

@maryssa_kemm I appreciate your interest in this topic! This is also a really good list because there are a lot of people who have distorted eating habit and don’t even realize it. #SOWK35021

[grace foreback @ForebackGrace]

@brigettesowk350 I think this list is really beneficial and relevant to these times. We talk about a lot of the effects of covid but somehow often leave behind the mental impact it’s had on many of us!

@anna_finch20 I found this really interesting because Ive actually heard a few stories about elders being mistreated in retirement homes, hospitals, and other forms of care. #SOWK35021

@kay51894683 I think this is a great infographic because it has a lot of details and information on homeless youth. Not many people are well educated on the topic of homelessness and sexual violence. I was shocked to read that 82% trade sex for money for survival!

This infographic lists a number of risk and protective factors among different demographics. This relates to social work because it is an example of a few useful points to consider when assessing individuals, families, and groups. #sowk35021

As a result of a powerful snow storm, residents in and around the Dallas area are facing power outages and freezing conditions. However wealthier areas like highland park still have power while low income areas are left to freeze. This is a human rights issue. #sowk35021
