@FredBastiat1801@Devlinside123@2footgiraffe The lesson plan completely changes.I’m in elementary, so it’s way different I guess. But we didn’t have slides to look at during the day as kids. The teacher would just stand up and talk/write. Just creating a slide deck with links, pictures, videos, attachments takes a ton of time
@FredBastiat1801@Devlinside123@2footgiraffe That’s a very loaded question, but I’ll stay on topic. I’m just trying to say bc you made a lesson plan 25 yrs ago for your Algebra class and “know” the material, doesn’t mean you can just pop that in today and it’s going to be successful. You still need to plan it daily
@Devlinside123@2footgiraffe This is what’s incredibly frustrating. None of you actually knows what goes on in a classroom nowadays. There are 45 different variables/factors why you can’t just take “Topic A” that you taught in 2000 and teach it the same way, to an entirely different group of kids in 2026.
@JamesAFurey Again, you have no idea. Most teachers lose their planning time daily just responding to parent emails in a timely manner. So they must then use their personal time to get the actual planning work done. It’s not being lazy or inefficient. It’s just real life.
@keykramer@DuaneMilton1109@JacobEdwardInc Getting good sleep will literally add years to your life. I do however think we have gotten to a point where we are over-optimizing every aspect of life, and we’re not actually living it.
@BarryNSmith79@drdrefud12 Thats not true at all. That’s exactly what I do. I want to spend time with my wife/daughter so I go home immediately, and then once she goes to bed at 8/8:30, I plan/grade
@Timpabak@TheEXECUTlONER_ This original post is so hyperbolic. It’s also ok to teach your kids the lesson that one parent might not be able to make it to a game one day. Everyone will be ok and life will go on.
@K227924744@MiloR976933@TheMagaHulk What does an SAT/ACT score have to do with how easy/hard your job is? The original post was ignorant and sounds like it came from someone who hasn’t been in a classroom in 20+ years, and you just doubled down on it.
@BIGCOACHO_@anymanfitness Exactly. Teaching Honors classes isn’t hard. They’re mostly well-off kids with lots of support at home. They already have the framework. Try teaching a kid with zero English, who lives in a house with 3 other families, and their parents work nights so they have no support at home
@paxtondrexler@FlorioGina Your first part was fine. Your second part is the problem. “If it ruins your dinner, so be it?” If your kid is screaming his head off at dinner and you dont do something to try and alleviate that, you’re an asshole.
