I've been thinking of making a series of I think a few mixed media pieces about a sense of belonging through looking back at ancestors, not only looking into my Human ancestors and ethnicity, but my Neanderthal and pre-Human ancestors. To quote Trump; I have concepts of plans
If you call for Palestinian rights and don't immediately call for Irish unity, you are so out of touch.
The Brit backed Black and Tans not only terrorized Ireland, but were also amongst the first there to colonize Palestine for Israel.
Of course, if I have a son I'm going to have the same talk, just centered on how I want him to understand girl's experiences. I'll also have a convo with him about patriarchal expectations of men and how damaging they are, not only to women, but to men as well.
Recently I've been thinking about how, if I have a daughter at some point, I'll have to talk to her about (imo) the worst part of puberty; the transition from person to object.
Nothing could have prepared me for that transition.
Growing up, I already hated the expectations placed on me by society for being female, and how society sees me as lesser. But the added sting of suddenly being less than AND viewed as an object for men to oggle made me so uncomfortable. I was already angry, but this made me more.
