@dieworkwear Part of it is packaging too. There’s the confusing labeling practices in the US about “best by” dates. And the food often comes in huge portions compared to what I saw abroad.
In about 3 weeks it will become clear that the Bin Laden TikTok drama was a nothing burger, that the examples obsessed over were cherry picked, and that 99% of the users over there didn't read "the letter".

@dick_nixon Sir, why does the seemingly freeriding ultra-right have so much electoral clout in Israel? And I hear it’s popular with the young voters too?
The Washington Post does in its headline what the New York Times wouldn’t — quote Trump using the word “vermin” and tie it to the rhetoric of dictators.
LATEST: The Israeli military accused Hamas militants of building "a whole tunnel system under" Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza.

@ArmandDoma Not sure it’s ever been an option though. We haven’t had a really sovereign Palestine before, but in the Mandate era the Muslims and Jews would constantly fight over Jerusalem. Lebanon tried to be multi sectarian but isn’t functional. There aren’t good examples in the region.
Interviewer: "When you built 500 km of tunnels in Gaza, why didn't you build shelters for civilians from the attacks?"
Hamas official Abu Marzouk: "The tunnels are for us (the people of Hamas ). The citizens in the Gaza Strip are under the responsibility of the United Nations."
Intellectual insanity

Around 100 persons have been killed in escalating violence on the West Bank 🇵🇸 since October 7, with also settler violence against Palestinians on the rise. It’s here the political battle over the future of any two state solutions - over any 🇮🇱🇵🇸 peace at all - will primarily be fought. The immediate drama is Gaza, but the real issue is Jerusalem and WB.
What is happening in the West Bank with more than 100 Palestinians killed since Oct 7 is an atrocity. Violent settlers are murdering Palestinians along with soldiers in the effort to force Palestinians to leave their homes, and no one is watching or preventing this.
