September 11 is a week away.
Normal people will spend that day remembering September 11, 2001.
Nearly 3,000 human beings were murdered.
We will remember the people who went to work that morning and never came home. The firefighters, police officers, paramedics and civilians who ran toward danger. The passengers and crew of Flight 93 who realized what was happening and fought back.
Families will remember husbands, wives, parents, children, brothers, sisters and friends.
And then the conspiracy crowd will arrive.
For them, September 11 is their second birthday.
They have been waiting all year to drag the same decomposing pile of conspiracy garbage back onto social media and pretend they have discovered something.
THERMITE.
CONTROLLED DEMOLITION.
FREE FALL.
BUILDING 7.
THE $2.3 TRILLION.
JET FUEL.
MOSSAD.
CIA.
NO PLANES.
MISSILES.
"INSIDE JOB."
Same shit. Different year.
There will be no new evidence.
There will be no stunning revelation.
There will be no newly discovered engineering problem that thousands of structural engineers somehow overlooked for 25 years.
There will just be the same memes, the same cropped photographs, the same selectively edited videos, the same fake quotations, the same misunderstood physics, the same junk papers and the same questions that have been answered so many times that entire websites, books and technical reports exist solely because conspiracy addicts refuse to read the answers.
I've watched this ritual for years.
Someone posts a meme.
You explain why it's wrong.
They change subjects.
You answer that claim.
They post another meme.
You provide photographs, eyewitness accounts, structural analysis, flight records, physical evidence and engineering explanations.
They disappear.
Then September rolls around again and they post the original meme like the previous conversation never happened.
That should tell you something.
These people are not investigating September 11.
They're performing.
They get to imagine themselves as fearless truth-seekers who discovered a secret invisible to engineers, investigators, journalists, pilots, firefighters, scientists, eyewitnesses and everyone else on Earth.
And apparently the anniversary of thousands of people's deaths is too irresistible an opportunity for engagement farming to pass up.
So yes, I already know what's coming.
They'll crawl out with their annual collection of recycled bullshit, and I'll be there correcting as much of it as I can.
Not because I expect the hardcore conspiracy addicts to suddenly develop standards of evidence.
I do it because everyone else is watching.
And because the people who died on September 11 deserve remembrance, dignity and truth.
They deserve better than becoming props in somebody's annual conspiracy cosplay.
@Bibimboppoo These are only some of the types of stories that you will live! The journal reminds you why you continue to do this during the darker times! ๐๐ป
@Bibimboppoo There are going to be many times in your career when you will question decisions that you have made. You will lose patients, and patience. And you wonder whether you want to continue. Or not. But before you decide to change careers, are you just leaving a currently uncomfortable
