well, it's way more complicated than that. shoujo was made for girls by women & characters from shoujo series can be moe, but the 'cute girls doing cute things' series & 'moege' created specifically to evoke a feeling of moe are definitely targeted towards men

@blkcatgirlsplz This is just sounding like personal disinterest in Yuta as a character, attempting to be framed as both writing criticism AND insult. Which is fine, ig, but not very enlightening to debate. And something being poorly written does not make it NOT an element of the story, btw.

jjk is shallow in a lot of places but i genuinely think you are missing something in the skull if you don't think yuta is probably one of if not the most shallow of every main cast member

@blkcatgirlsplz Why not make this the Yuji show? Why have Maki or Geto or any other character not directly relevant to him? Why are we even discussing narrative importance when this started with claiming Yuta is a shallow character?

@blkcatgirlsplz Of course they share in themes, is this your first work with an ensemble cast? That's literally the point- for there to be a line where all the character connect to establish an overarching theme. If Yuta is not important relative to Yuji, why is any other character?

@blkcatgirlsplz ? Yuta's problems do have narrative weight bcuz they establish him as a facet of JJK's theme of the different ways the older generations fail their successors. Yuta is someone victimized by circumstance, Yuji was victimized by calculated endeavors. They're completely different.

This is a miserable way of life for a 17 yr old boy. Is this nuance well explored? Absolutely not. But the lack of emotional conclusion is one of Jujutsu Kaisen's biggest problems as a whole, not a problem of any one character.

He's overly reliant on external validation and can't let go of anything, he keeps an effigy of Rika that performs cannibalism for him and he treats like he's still married to, he readily takes on any & all roles other people ascribe to him and basically completely lacks an ego

i think we have an over-analysys and lore intoxication problem nowadays, people want the answer and information for every minute detail and they want a spoonfed ending with no room for interpretations whatsoever as theyre afraid from deviating from the common thoughts on the work
