This is a categorical error.
Shirk is never excusable. A person can't be both a Muwahhid and a Mushrik. This is a cope that was invented by the wahhabi movement to save face from having to Takfeer the majority of the scholars that came before MIAW. As for the incident of the man who was cremated, it has a few interpretations to it, the interpretation that pushed the limits the most is that a person who is ignorant of an attribute of Allah can be forgiven for his error due to being a Muwahhid.
