@catvalente /3 and in 1984 discovered the virus behind AIDS. It would take another 3 yrs for a first treatment to become available, and another 10 for HAART to show up. We still don't have a vaccine, but with treatment a good life expectancy.
Now we have this new pandemic, and went from...
@catvalente /2 disappeared 2 yrs later, nobody the wiser as to the actual pathogen. It would take almost 90 yrs to sequence its genome.
Then the other pandemic a lot of people seem to have forgotten about: The earliest case in 1968 went by unnoticed, until in 1981 people paid attention...
@IlyaOPopov@sonic_presence Careful with those herbs, they can interact with prescription drugs in very interesting ways.
Interesting is a euphemism in this context. E.g. St John's Wort can decrease Ritalin efficacy.
@CarolineCOTW@carolecadwalla That's an opinion piece based on old data. Crossreactive ABs are rare in adults, more prevalent in children and adolescents, and are not as potent as ABs from SARS-COV-2 patients.

@duan_reb@carolecadwalla@oommen His predictions so far have been spot on. And ICUs and regular ward are already in disaster mode (at least in the South of the UK).
He's predicting that restrictions will be loosened too early due political pressure and that will lead to worse infection rates in summer.
@CliveTheBike @FRookie48@carolecadwalla "at risk" group is 60+yrs. Within the work force 60+ are experienced staff. Not exactly who you want to lose atm. 2nd, treating a 60+ patient vs a 30+ are very different shows. Former requires much more balancing acts than the latter, so I'd rather have less of those on my ICU.
@capi2274 Yep. You come on here pretending to be interested in a genuine exchange. Instead your arguments are disingenuous, condescending and utterly bereft of true understanding. You just want your bias confirmed, but sorry, not interested.
@capi2274 You know that's a fake? The CDC hasn't released data from 2019 and 2020, and even 2018 data are only preliminary. Fool. You don't even know how to check your sources.

@capi2274 Yeah, right. I'm a medical degree and two specialties closer in understanding this. You're the noisy narcissist in the background making life for everyone working in patient care hell. Thanks a lot, random guy on Twitter.
