It’s shameful & shocking that given what I've gone through & how huge the campaign to bring me home was, & the Government acknowledge the injustice of my experience, still they do not recognise what's going on at home.

‘IPP sentences keep people inside based on what they might do in future, not what they have actually do - it's predictive sentencing’

On 29th & 30th September, UNGRIPP have events at the Labour conference
It’s another opportunity to raise IPP with MPs. If you have a Labour MP please send them this flyer & ask them to come by to find out about IPP & why more change is needed

“Don't continue to use the argument that there is a public protection issue. That is nonsense. That is simply a very nice civil service way and secretary of state way to say we don't want to deal with it…”

Despite all of this, I have managed to build a good relationship with my kids & they are very supportive. They understand the injustice of the IPP. I am very lucky to have my family. Many don’t have that. I refuse to let the IPP take any more of my life.
Crime: ABH
Tariff: 2 yrs 4mnths
Time Served: 11 yrs in total
I was given an IPP of 2 yrs 4 mnths. The IPP is an unjust sentence but it wasn’t the IPP that affected me at first, it was the circumstances that led to my imprisonment that really messed with my mind to begin with.
I’m constantly paranoid about being recalled, this affects my life constantly. It has made me a nervous wreck. My probation officer is more worried about me turning up on time than actually helping me.
