@richardgrayshon@DAaronovitch Indeed. Money devoted to the public transport infrastructure, especially Trans-Pennine, would be more useful to the region than an opera company.
@JeanRogersActs@emmerdale @classickimtate @TomJP90@zoesatsuma Great to hear from you too, Jean. That picture really is a forgotten memory! Some of my last Emmerdales - so maybe free to do the unexpected - but I do recall they were enjoyable episodes. Fifty years, Jeez! But for me it will always have ‘Farm’ attached!
I like eccentric humour! Great opportunity as actor 2 help a character grow but favourite 6 episodes were written by great @emmerdale writer & then producer Michael Russell @forgottencities Dolly’s brief unrequited encounter - he was cruelly killed off- with a tree feller fella
28 October 1938 | Dutch Jewish boy Rudi René Hond was born in Amsterdam.
In August 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
@carolscottkitty Thanks for your support, Carol. It’s much appreciated - good to know there’s someone out there! I have just started work on the next book, which will be out next summer.
@JODarchaeology Great discovery. Some time LIDAR look at area of Boleylug, Downings to Kilranelagh House might be interesting. Downings recalling dún as we know. Old refs in Fingál Rónáin and later 18th c work near existing house suggest something significant below Kilranelagh as well as summit?
As any followers know, my posts are 95% wine related. However, I love to read, and today I got the latest Michael Russell @forgottencities "Steffan Gillespie" Novel, the seventh in the series. Stories based out of Ireland at the time of "The Emergency" WW2. Highly recommended.
@LeeAllenAuthor Hi Lee, many thanks for such a positive review. As I’m sure you know yourself, it’s not so much the ‘good or bad’ that matters in a review but the sense that someone out there gets our modest intentions! Thanks again.
@stephenpollard@JewishChron Having long given up Twitter, some things demand comment. Your JC editorial stint made what was always quietly a very great newspaper even stronger. I’ve never kept reviews of my books (even if good!) but one I do keep with pride is the JC’s. Wishing you good fortune ‘at large’
@JohnRentoul@VYhuU0Y Years ago a sign by a concrete ramp to the shop at the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, that was lethal when it rained, read ‘Danger Slippery Slope’... coincidentally, it pointed across the garden to the back entrance to the bar.
