📍🧭 Day 2 of the I-Lead Program Phase 2 marked a powerful culmination of learning, leadership, and action.
The day began with an engaging session on Leadership & Ethics facilitated by Mr. Gérard Saleh Bitendelo, where fellows reflected on the values, responsibilities, and character required to lead with integrity in today’s complex world. Through thought-provoking discussions and practical examples, participants explored ethical leadership, accountability, decision-making, and the importance of aligning personal values with public action. The session challenged fellows to think beyond positions and titles, and instead reflect on the kind of leaders they aspire to become and the legacy they hope to leave behind.
The energy then shifted to the much-anticipated pitching session, where fellows presented innovative ideas and community-centered solutions designed to advance integrity, accountability, and social justice. From individual presentations to collaborative group pitches, participants demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, confidence, and a deep commitment to solving real-world challenges within their communities. What stood out most was not only the quality of the ideas presented, but the courage to share them, defend them, and receive feedback with openness and professionalism.
Because leadership is not simply about identifying problems. It is about having the courage to imagine solutions and the conviction to act on them.
Special appreciation to the Youth Empowerment Fund by @gymobilization, and the @EU_Partnerships, for investing in young leaders and creating opportunities for youth-led innovation and transformation.

📍What does it mean for young people to remain relevant, resilient, and included in the age of AI?
On Friday 22nd May 2026, we convened over 50 young people, practitioners, mentors, and thought leaders for a timely and reflective conversation through our youth webinar:
🎯 AI, Power & You: Who Wins in the Future of Work?
At a time when Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping industries, communication, education, governance, creativity, and access to opportunities, this session created space not only to discuss technology itself, but also the deeper social, ethical, and human questions surrounding the AI shift.
Together, we explored conversations around:
a) AI literacy and digital inclusion
b) The future of work and workforce transformation
c) Ethical and responsible AI adoption
d) Misinformation, media integrity, and digital responsibility
d) Emotional resilience and navigating uncertainty in changing times
e) Ensuring marginalized communities are not excluded from emerging opportunities
One of the strongest reflections from the session was the reminder that conversations about AI cannot only focus on innovation and productivity. They must also address power, inequality, access, ethics, accountability, and the responsibility young people have in shaping the future rather than simply reacting to it.
We are deeply grateful to our distinguished speakers: Dr. Nancy Kwangwa, Ms. Maria Ilieva, and Mr. Benson Furaha Mwandoro. Your insights, lived experiences, and thoughtful reflections brought depth, balance, and global perspective to this important conversation.
Special appreciation also goes to the YIB team, our partners, collaborators, @KilifiCountyGov, Leading Well Network, and fellow Kilifi County CSOs including but not limited to @TuunganeK; @Timiza_CC; @CboCharity9365; @hope2shine; @YmcaKilifi; @YoungLife; @Youthsports003; @KilifiGender; etc and all participants whose engagement made the session thoughtful, and meaningful.
As @ForIntegrityOrg, we remain committed to fostering informed, ethical, and inclusive conversations around technology, governance, digital transformation, and youth empowerment. Because ultimately, the future is not something young people should simply wait for. It is something we must understand, question, and actively help shape.

📍Even before the sessions officially begin, the energy in the room is always something special.
Sometimes the learning starts long before the first presentation or discussion, because connection is often the first step toward impact. Through laughter, games, and simple moments of interaction, young people were already building confidence, community, and meaningful connections. Impactful youth engagement is not only about what happens during training sessions, but also about creating spaces where young people feel welcomed, valued, and comfortable being themselves.
Because safe and engaging environments matter just as much as the conversations we hold within them.

📍AI, Power & You: Who Wins in the Future of Work? 🎯
As the world continues to navigate rapid technological and social transformation, conversations about Artificial Intelligence must also remain grounded in leadership, human connection, community, and the empowerment of young people.
We are pleased to feature Ms. Maria Ilieva as one of the speakers for this upcoming youth webinar. Ms. Maria is a passionate advocate for education, youth empowerment, and community development with extensive experience in the NGO sector. As a @StateDept_RBX Alumna, she brings a global perspective to leadership, mentorship, and social impact work.
Driven by a strong belief in the transformative power of education and supportive communities, Maria has worked closely with emerging leaders through mentorship and capacity-building initiatives, helping young people develop confidence, purpose, and meaningful engagement within their communities.
At a time when many young people are facing uncertainty about the future of work, technological disruption, and the pressure to constantly adapt, Maria’s perspective brings an important reminder that resilience, empathy, leadership, and human connection remain just as essential as technical skills.
Her contribution to this conversation will help us reflect on:
✔ leadership in a changing world
✔ adaptability and emotional resilience
✔ youth empowerment and mentorship
✔ and the importance of creating supportive spaces for young people to thrive
As AI continues to reshape societies globally, conversations like these are not only about technology, they are also about people, dignity, opportunity, and the kind of future we want to build together.
Join us tomorrow for this important conversation.

📍AI, Power & You: Who Wins in the Future of Work? 🎯
As conversations around Artificial Intelligence and the future of work continue to grow, it is equally important for young people to hear from individuals who are actively navigating technology, leadership, innovation, and digital transformation in real-world spaces.
We are excited to feature Mr. Benson Furaha Mwandoro as one of the speakers for this upcoming youth webinar. Mr. Benson is a technology and youth leadership advocate with a background in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, software development, and digital transformation. He is a graduate of the University of Eldoret and an alumnus of several leadership and technology programmes including the Power Learn Project, Aspire Leaders Program, Cyber Shujaa Program, and the Integrity Leadership Development (I-LEAD) Program.

He also works as a Relationship Officer – Payments at Equity Bank Kenya, supporting digital banking solutions and innovation within the financial sector.
Through his journey across technology, leadership, and community engagement, Benson brings practical insight into:
✔ digital transformation
✔ emerging opportunities in the AI era
✔ youth leadership and innovation
✔ and the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing world
His perspective reflects an important reality: young people do not have to wait for the future to happen to them, they can actively position themselves, build relevant skills, and become part of shaping it.
Join us tomorrow as we explore the opportunities, challenges, and realities of navigating the AI shift as young people.

📍AI, Power & You: Who Wins in the Future of Work? 🎯
As conversations around Artificial Intelligence continue to shape the future of work, governance, education, and digital participation globally, it is important that young people engage with voices that not only understand technology but also understand its impact on people, communities, and access to opportunity.
We are honoured to feature Dr. @nancykwangwa as one of the speakers for this upcoming youth webinar. Dr. Kwangwa is a distinguished information and knowledge management professional committed to promoting digital inclusion, research integrity, AI literacy, media literacy, and equitable access to information. She currently serves as Deputy Librarian and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Champion at the Women’s University in Africa and is the founder of the Zimbabwe Information and Technology Empowerment Centre (ZITEC), a national NGO advancing digital equity and access to information.
She has developed and implemented information and digital literacy programmes that have impacted more than 15,000 community members and is an internationally recognised mentor whose work has supported young leaders across 11 countries. Her contributions to community development, academic librarianship, and youth empowerment have earned recognition through initiatives including the U.S. Department of State’s Community Solutions Programme, Community Engagement Exchange Programme, and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
Importantly, she also served as a lead rapporteur in the drafting of Zimbabwe’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2026–2030), contributing to conversations shaping the future of AI governance and inclusion in Africa.
In a time where AI is rapidly transforming societies, Dr. Kwangwa’s perspective reminds us that conversations about technology must also be conversations about:
✔ equity
✔ ethics
✔ access
✔ responsibility
✔ and inclusion
Join us tomorrow as we explore how young people can move beyond simply consuming technology to meaningfully understanding and shaping the future.

📍Great ideas only create impact when people understand, believe in, and connect with them.
During our session on Effective Ideation, Communication & Advocacy facilitated by Mr. Festus Kazungu, fellows explored how ideas are developed, communicated, and transformed into meaningful action.
The session challenged participants to think beyond conventional approaches by exploring practical ideation and problem-solving strategies such as brainstorming, SWOT analysis, and the SCAMPER technique, encouraging young leaders to think critically, creatively, and outside the box when designing solutions for integrity and social justice challenges.
Fellows also engaged in conversations around effective communication, advocacy tools, storytelling, public speaking, strategic messaging, and the role of communication in influencing perceptions, mobilizing communities, and driving change. They also reflected on how youth voices can influence conversations, challenge systems, and inspire change within communities.
One key reflection from the session was clear:
Having a good idea is important, but knowing how to communicate, advocate for, and position that idea effectively is what gives it the power to create real impact.
