Oh, yes, the gods are smiling on me today. Got a barrel of nice cider from a merchant passing through and renting a room.
The coin is nice, but sometimes the bartering is even nicer.
@ChampionOfLuck I thank ye, Hawke. [He nods his head in a subtle bow of respect.] I appreciate it. It just might be customers like yerself drinkin' to me health that keeps me goin' today. [There's a bit of a teasing tone in his voice.]
@daringfairgirl Ah, I see. In that case, I hope you have a fine adventure before you head back home. You'll always be welcome should you find your way back down the fork in the road, here.
@daringfairgirl Is that so? [He frowns slightly, pausing for a swig from his flagon.] Any particular reason why? O' course, ye don't have to answer that.
@daringfairgirl Oh, a lot of it was like that for me. Lots of trudging over paths, camping out under the stars. Sometimes, sleeping at inns just like this one. But I'm sure your grand adventure will come to you, someday.
@daringfairgirl A little of both, I suppose. I'd fight if needed, deliver parcels, if needed. Even fought some monsters. [He looks a bit mischievous at this.]
@ChampionOfLuck I wouldn't mind selling some of my stock and having an excuse to go hunting. [There's a hint of a grin as he takes the coin.] My thanks for the business, lassie. You can call on me if you need anything, or my serving girl, Tesse.
@daringfairgirl I found work where I could as a sell-sword, and settled down for a time in a mountain town. There I met a lass I nearly married. [He smiles sadly at the memory over a long pull from his tankard.]
@daringfairgirl I can't say for sure, I never saw one. But some of the older sailors certainly believed. [He lets out a low laugh.] Then again, they might've been tryin' to scare us young ones.
@ChampionOfLuck Three gold for the lot of ye. [He casts an appraising glance at the party, of assorted folk used to such groups finding their way to his inn. If he's honest, he enjoys them.] I can include some light provisions, as well. I make me own jerky.
@daringfairgirl Aye, though it wasn't easy. The wind was sharp and the waves were choppy. Some of the other crew who'd survived swore they saw a kraken circling us, but I saw no sign of it, meself. The storm was bad enough.
@daringfairgirl That's quite wise of you! [He grins at her, then pauses for a sip of his ale.] But the pay was good, and I was younger and much more stupid, so I kept on despite the danger. At least, until the ship was wrecked. We were lucky enough that it wasn't far off the coast.
