This image hits me every time.

Look at it.

Human beings hanging hundreds of feet above Manhattan because the conditions behind them had become unbearable. No staircase. No rescue coming through the windows. No ordinary choice left.

They were not soldiers. They were office workers, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends. People who went to work that morning expecting to come home.

That is the part of September 11 that can become almost antiseptic after 25 years. We say “9/11.” We quote numbers. We show buildings and smoke. But every one of those numbers was a human being experiencing something almost impossible for the mind to comprehend.

And these images force us to comprehend it.

Do not look away from them. Do not sanitize what happened. Do not turn the people in these photographs into abstractions. Remember the terror inflicted upon innocent human beings by al-Qaeda terrorists acting in the name of an Islamist extremist ideology.

Memory is a moral duty.

Tell your children. Tell your grandchildren. Tell people who were not alive yet.

Remember the innocents.

Remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and ordinary Americans who ran toward people desperately trying to escape.

Remember September 11, 2001.

And above everything else, remember the human beings.

Never let history become anodyne simply because remembering it hurts.

my timeline has been filled with stories about 9/11 since the begging of last week and mehn.. i have never been sadder.. so man unnecessary deaths.. for what reason.. to prove a point? for power? the saddest were those who had to jump.. damn🤦🏽‍♂️
