Emeryville Animal Prints Are Now (A)Live!
Emeryville now has passive pedestrian detection on key corridors in the City! Using existing detection cameras for vehicles, the green light is given to pedestrians simply by standing at the corner.

Closing unsignalized intersections like the one at Hubbard / 40th would prevent cars from taking turns across a 2 way cycle track, sidewalk, and transit lane. Traffic studies found small added delays for vehicle traffic while greatly improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
Yesterday a pedestrian was struck by a turning car in the area behind Bevmo off of Shellmound Street and was left in critical condition. This turn is one of many along Shellmound and 40th that will be seeing safety upgrades as part of the 40th Street project.
Currently Councilmember Priforce is working with business owners to try and kill necessary safety improvements that would prevent incidents like this from happening. Contact our council and let them know we can't compromise safety for business profits. https://t.co/L2IV0eLHyz

I love this progression of the no-brainer idea to crowdsource a solution that would fairly demarcate street parking removed by California's new daylighting law.
Huge opportunity for @DanielLurie to avert catastrophe and create visible wins across San Francisco demonstrating the competence of his administration.
Great work @arch_lillian and @KidSafeSF!

Emeryville's own staff report notes that high cyclist speeds down the Shellmound Bridge and conflicts between buses and turning traffic mean that closing this intersection would address safety concerns.
Emeryville could be studying an alternative design on 40th Street that does not include a full closure of Hubbard to car traffic. This is a big problem for Bike/Ped safety and transit reliability and goes against what council approved last year with community support.
CA must make it easier to build things — housing, clean energy, transit/rail, manufacturing, etc.
CA layers unending process on things we need. We get less as a result.
We’re working to unwind this problem by streamlining permits. We’ve had success but much work remains.
