Decisions that have made my life infinitely better:
• Don't pepper anyone with questions as soon as they wake up or get home (give people space)
• Operate on a Need-to-Know basis (don't take on what's not mine)
• Share compliments (if I think it, I say it)
• Hoard opinions (if I think it, pause, maybe say it)
• Bring perspective to customer service issues (the person hearing my complaint isn't responsible)
• Be ruthlessly accountable and prioritize repair when necessary (owning up, apologizing, etc.)
• Don't be a right fighter (I don't need to be right; just knowing I'm right is enough - ha)
• Be wrong (delight in learning something new)
• Have hard conversations in real-time (no texting or emails)
What's on your list?
Words matter.
Pause and take a moment to consider which word you would use to describe the emotion you're feeling.
But don’t stop there. Once you’ve identified the first word, try to come up with two more words to describe it.
