"Portugal has much potential to boost its role as a nearshore outsourcing destination in Europe as companies shift their attention away from the UK as it prepares to bail out of the EU, while Brazil is proving an important source of talent for the country’s software developers."
When people disappoint us, it’s not due to their actions. It’s because their actions fell short of our expectations.
You can’t control what people do, but you can choose not to let their actions drive your emotions.
Be clearer about your expectations—or set more realistic ones.
@susanthesquark I still use Facebook, it’s the primary place people and organizations post events I care about related to bike racing and much more. I don’t get why there is such pride & chest thumping about deleting your Facebook accounts - and then gloating about it elsewhere on social media.
Decision making, mental models, how to listen and so much more : *highly* recommend everything from @farnamstreet (including the Knowledge Project podcast), personal fave of mine. Real treat sitting down with Shane.
'I don't have time' is another way of saying ‘its not a priority.’
In the words of Seneca: While we are postponing, life speeds by.

Justice is a virtue, as is knowledge, which requires understanding. Understanding refers to goodness, and thus, knowledge and goodness are one. The philosopher kings have virtue as they have knowledge, and thus, according to Plato, their rule is justified.
At @CodeUniversity software engineer and design students also learn about ethics and (practical) philosophy by default. A pioneer idea that may slowly shape the tech scene in Europe 🇪🇺
We actively talk and try to understand problems caused by the startup scene like the gentrification of Kreuzberg. CODE's approach reminds me of Plato's concept of the philosopher king where one's leadership is justified not only by knowledge but also by a good sense of justice.
I was trying to explain to my 7 yo how powerful it is to be able to read, because you can now learn anything from books instead of waiting for teachers to teach you. When I described a shelf of books as an army of robot teachers, he started to get it.
