Having now seen Backrooms twice, I hope a budding filmmaker takes on Seaport.
I’m now struggling w/the fact that an already-pathetic, 1/4-acre park of natural grass was just swapped out for astroturf, blocks away frm a piazza of plastic flowers. Not a concern anywhere but here.
Seaport’s latest boondoggle is now open. Developer won a Massport RFP for a 600 ksf office tower, promising a 60 ksf “Waterfront Cultural Center.”
That bait-and-switch evaporated in silence.
In its place? A pedestrian ramp to an island in Seaport’s most dangerous intersection.

Very proud to be present today as Mayor Wu endorsed Latoya Gayle for State Senate (D1).
Latoya’s words and those of Mayor Wu, along w remarks of leaders alongside them, were worth a listen.
Latoya spoke to the very core of why this election matters. Video coming soon. 🔥
A Street repaving is ahead of schedule! A St from Congress to Melcher will close 6/4th at 8pm. It should be completed in one night.

Great to see Boston Public Market (@BosPublicMarket) stepping up with watch parties and extending hours for the World Cup.
Expect no less from the market’s amazing CEO @jkleja! 🔥
The degradation of the Seaport public realm, masked by activations of lots already zoned for towers, would never fly in NYC.
Not only would regulators take a firm grip instead of claiming they have no leverage (a convenient falsehood), devs in NYC often compete based on pride.
Scooper Bowl is a hit today.
It’s on Parcel D, a lot already permitted for a future office tower. The master developer of Seaport Square continues to make a joke out of permanent public park space, now down to a dog park and two public parks, one converted to astroturf in April.

June kicks off with Fish & Farm Market, Scooper Bowl now thru 6/4, an Art Opening, live music & Lawn on D opens! Sprinkled in are: Article 80 updates, Landmark Commissioners, flood resilience & proposed residential parking zoning changes. https://t.co/dTD61lzkyC
Wu, state officials reach deal on closing Summer Street ahead of World Cup matches
[How fortunate we were that the Globe Editorial Board and Joan Vennochi drafted scolds re. this perceived rift, even noting the lack of warmth btw the Mayor and Governor!] https://t.co/EU16OqmXbv
Information on the World Cup watch parties at the Convention Center in Seaport, taken from today's column by @leung / @jonchesto.
[For the record, Lawn on D has been renamed "The Grove."] https://t.co/r6g7uuX2FY
Adults in Boston and Philadelphia, arguing like children over who's more deserving of recognition for the 250th. How about both cities being valuable on their own merits? And if you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. ☮️ https://t.co/P3CCeuwIQw
@ckonefilm Whatever works for them is great by me, I'm just glad they're coming. Also, I appreciate how District Ave around the AMC has evolved. Developers put a lot of thought in and made some surprising investments in its public realm.
BREAKING 1st look at 150 Seaport’s 500 square foot Waiting Area for ferry passengers, required under Chapter 91.
A remnant space, far smaller than 500sf, requiring visitors to sit below and around a stairway.
Waiting for a response from BPDA/DEP to excuse or fix this.

Wu secures deals to provide nearly 500 school-year jobs for Boston teens amid budget cuts, says goal is to get to 2,000… https://t.co/P7TXLhglXS @nikigriswold
Terrific press conference now LIVE.
Great work not only by the Wu admin and partners including the Chamber, but by Councilors Santana, Louijeune and Durkan.
So much is possible when City Councilors roll up their sleeves in a collaborative effort.
On Summer Street negotiations:
Globe EB: "If this is a power squabble, work it out. Disagreements happen, but dysfunction on display this summer would be a reputational embarrassment."
Reliable scold Joan Vennochi jumped in today.
What a one-horse town. 🤣
