The cheese stall in #GraingerMarket. Three fridges at the back as well as the counter displays in front. I chose the crumbly Lancashire and the Somerset Ewes Brie which was delicious last time. @forwardnotback
This regardless of any other initiatives is both a huge statement of the future of where political power will sit and staffing on loan from the current centre of power
JP will be looking down with a huge smile
No. 10 has just announced a secondment programme from the civil service to 18 mayoral authorities — 5-10 civil servants in each one for 6-9 months
Cabinet statement from July 31 appears to aim much bigger, though, talking of a "smaller and more strategic civil service" overall
Not sure I like CoS to politicians giving interviews
A terrible habit that almost always leads to problems
Speaking of problems

“Leaves door open to mayors paying rebates”
Contradicts what Louise Haigh said on Times Radio
EXCL: First interview with No. 10 North chief Caroline Simpson
😬 Indicates there'll be "significant" cuts to civil service staff to boost local areas

This really sickens me
Why bother to mention whether or not you disagree with him on anything
Wish him well and hope he continues to recover or simply shut up
@forwardnotback This is good to see. Please humour me 🤣 have used as a #poetryprompt#KeepWell

One thing I am going to miss are the Brazilian, Portuguese and Spanish #Cafes in #Lambeth
This is a recent addition in #StreathamVale - small but does what it does well
The Polish Deli next door is also very good!
I really do not like mayonnaise
I do like both sliced boiled egg & tomato and fried egg sandwiches
I’m not keen on scrambled eggs but don’t hate them
It is a mayonnaise not an egg thing
I had a mashed potato sandwich earlier

Just ‘lil ole me staring at flowers and being goofy again
🎵I strolled along the sidewalk 'neath the sweet magnolia trees
I was whistlin', pickin' flowers, swayin' in the southern breeze
I found myself surrounded, one policeman said, "That's him
Come along, wild flower child…🎵
OK it is shallow and no way to choose where to live but in early discussions about where I might like to live I said “well there is one estate in Stockwell”
The housing officer absolutely loved me and thought I was slightly mad after that discussion😂😂😂
“the foundation he left gives his successor, Andy Burnham, a greater chance of succeeding and reduces the chances of a populist-right government being elected”
KEIR STARMER LEFT THE COUNTRY IN A BETTER PLACE
By @NickTorfaen
The contrast between the private, thoughtful Keir and the distant leader he was often portrayed as was stark. Criticisms of his government are well known: from winter fuel payment cuts to welfare reform rebellion and accusations of policy U-turns. The charge was that he had no guiding mission. A more considered view can now emerge. Above all, Keir demonstrated that a moderate centre-left administration could be formed and deliver tangible changes. He showed that this could be done in difficult circumstances. The long squeeze on living standards after the financial crash, austerity, Brexit, the Covid pandemic and Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine all left a weak economy and struggling public services. But the foundation he left gives his successor, Andy Burnham, a greater chance of succeeding and reduces the chances of a populist-right government being elected.
