Couldn’t find the right words yesterday but wanted to share my experience with Ben.

I first got to stand across the ring from him in 2018. Anyone who has had that privilege will know how utterly selfless he was as a performer. I became a fan of his through Dragon Gate, then finding out he started out as backyarder in England, like my friends and me, gave that real sense of hope.

His selflessness in the ring was only matched by how humble and genuine he was outside of it. Ben would go out there and give a masterclass, yet he was never fully satisfied with his performance. He always saw what could be better no matter how small. I would regularly remind him how much this frustrated me considering how perfect he was, which became a regular bit from Andy and I. He understood the sport, the art form, and was a master of it.

He was the best our country produced, and paved the way for a lot of us. A hero and an idol who I feel so lucky became a true friend. Ben was the type of friend you could go to with no judgement and he would always tell you straight. But from my experience with him he loved and cared for nothing more than his family, his wife and his sausage dog. All my love goes to them right now.

Ben I will always miss you, your advice, your smile, your hugs and that clear as day Geordie accent. Thank you for believing in me always, even when I struggled to. You knew what you did for me and I will never forget that. I love you always Benny boy.

“There will never be another PAC. He inspired generations of wrestlers, and the impact he’s had on the wrestling business will be seen for decades to come. I’ll never forget the matches I witnessed firsthand in Japan for Dragon Gate. They absolutely blew me away, and I always wished I could become just as good of a wrestler as him. We first met 20 years ago for PWG. Soon after, he mentored us over in Japan and showed us how things worked there.

We lost touch for a few years while he was wrestling in WWE, but we reconnected right before the start of AEW. Matt and I knew we had to have him on the roster because of how incredibly talented he was in the ring, and how good of a human being he was outside of it.

What breaks my heart even more is that I was so preoccupied with my ladder match this Saturday that I didn’t even get to say hello to him, and that’s something I’m going to have to live with forever. This has taught me to try and live each and every day as if it’s my last, with no regrets. It’s a reminder to make sure you tell the people you love just how much you love them. I love you, Ben.”
