*If not this Lady, most of us in history wouldn't have known these facts from Nigeria to South Africa. Have you heard something like this before?*
The Internet does not forget history
An outspoken Nigerian woman has publicly questioned the First Lady's ₦50,000 empowerment package for women expected to start akara, kuli-kuli, and roasted corn businesses.
According to her, a simple market survey shows that ₦50,000 barely covers half of what is needed to launch an akara business.
Her estimated breakdown includes:
• Beans – ₦10,000
• Frying pan – ₦30,000
• Frying spoon – ₦7,000
• Stove and firewood – ₦30,000
• Groundnut oil – ₦3,545
• Salt, pepper, onions and seasoning – ₦5,000
• Transportation and miscellaneous expenses – ₦5,000
Estimated Total: ₦90,545.
She argued that if these figures are accurate, each beneficiary is effectively short by about ₦40,545, asking how anyone is expected to establish a sustainable business with only half the required capital.
The woman also contrasted the initiative with reports of other political supporters receiving vehicles, questioning the priorities behind such empowerment programmes.
In a dramatic ending, she attempted to rain curses on the First Lady—but the words reportedly failed to leave her mouth, leaving many online amused while the debate over the adequacy of the empowerment package continues.
