This is going to be a thread about some of the violations, crimes, & actions that banks, governor of BDL, & others related to the industry are doing/committing/taking. Special thanks to @ABLLebanon & governor of @BDL_Lebanon for the material. Most stories received on @bdalebanon.
7/7 And yet here we have an MP, himself a businessman with vast car import empire, calling for the protection of insurance companies.
This is neoliberal Lebanon at its purest: protecting corporate interests while ordinary people absorb the losses.
6/7
- Life insurance, education insurance, and similar policies were repaid in “lollars,” inflicting massive losses on consumers, while the Insurance Control Commission at the Ministry of Economy stood by without taking meaningful action to hold these companies accountable.
5/5 The neighbour, left to her own device, is still resisting the bully and putting on a good fight.
Now, can we blame the neighbour for the bully's attacks on the whole building? Or should we be blaming the bully?
And is this sounding familiar? 😬
1/5 In the building I live in, my neighbour and her kids have been getting beaten everyday for the past year and a half by a bully in a building around the corner. The bully is trying to take over her apartment.
4/5 The bully got bullier and unleashed hell on the whole building and neighbours (who again were already feeling the repercussions of the bully's continuous attacks).
1/2 The convo between me and the president following his statement:
فؤاد (أنا يعني): ألو، جوزاف، كيفك برو؟
جوزاف: مين حضرتك؟
فؤاد: مش مهم، بس بالنسبة لتصريحك عن قطع اليد يللي بمس بالسلم الاهلي، أول شي c'est vulgaire et sauvage هيدا الحكي.
@ABLLebanon
If the timeline is accurate here, it took Iranians around 30 minutes to get the electricity back on after massive US/Israeli strikes.
In Lebanon, we still haven't gotten the electricity back on following the 2006 Israeli war.
😂
3/3 Perhaps, the most frustrating part is that our government is not doing a single thing to put and end to settler colonial state's crimes and hold it accountable.
1/3 Today (like every other day), Israel massacred many people including journalists Ali Cheaib and Fatima Ftouni who were covering the war on the front line.
It's a huge loss, but shouldn't come as a surprise. This is Israel's modus operandi.
2/3 The more frustrating part is that Israel is portraying this 50-60 year old individual who doesn't necessarily look too physically fit as a member of Hezbollah's ELITE unit.
2/2 The failure to do so is mainly due to the oligarchs, right-wing politicians, businesspeople & other wanna be influential individuals who are aiding Israel (whether directly/indirectly) by blaming the resistance & a segment of the population for Israel's horrific crimes/plans.
