Adding to this that when I say fuck genai i genuinely mean I do not think anyone has a “reason” to use it, especially in fanwork, and that the undisclosed usage of it does warrant an apology. I also don’t fault anyone for whom that would be the end of their interest in a creator!

@ilyassoull I think that’s very much the appropriate response to this situation! I’m personally wary of the “moral high ground” mob mentality. It’s my opinion that if we can’t be open to a person changing their mind on ai usage, then we’re never going to win this war against ai in fandom!

i have… so many thoughts on the ai space and its weird way it has nuzzled into fandom spaces but i will just say that it is authors that use ai like this that set unfathomable and impossible expectations for fic authors and are actively deteriorating the space
