One of the best moments during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party is when a Foundation Communities resident or client delivers a personal thank you message to the volunteers. Nolah Easterly from our M Station Learning Center did the honors with an honor roll-worthy speech!
On Friday, the entrepreneurial spirit was thriving at our Lakeline Station Learning Center. The students have been making products their classmates would love to buy. The Market Day activity teaches students about supply and demand, money management, hard work and creativity.

As we close Earth Month, we're highlighting an exciting sustainability project at two of our apartment communities in North Texas. Thanks to grant from Google, through Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute, two resilience hub systems are now converting and storing solar energy.

On Saturday the annual 5k Color Run at the Sierras took place at our Sierra Vista Apartments. It’s the culmination of 8 weeks of training for 3rd – 5th graders from two of our Learning Centers. Students made their way around the course at times getting doused with colored powder!
💵 We have more major funders to recognize for helping us build Norman Commons Apartments - Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) for providing a $31.5 million tax-exempt bond, and $1.75 million from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas.
Wells Fargo helped Foundation Communities build Norman Commons with $19.2 million in loans. At our Ribbon Cutting, Chris Rios, a regional vice president with Wells Fargo, arrived with a HUGE check for $100,000 to support financial coaching and wraparound services for residents.
Norman Commons Apartments is co-owned by Foundation Communities and the City of Austin's AHFC nonprofit. We could not have built it without $8.86 million from the City. It was our pleasure to have the Mayor Pro Tem and the director of Austin Housing speak at our Ribbon Cutting.

Two things our on-site Learning Centers focus on are STEM and Social-Emotional Learning. Both of those came into play during an afterschool activity at Homestead Oaks. Working with others to build an elevated track for toy cars out of cardboard tubes takes ingenuity and teamwork.
The Foundation Communities Community Support Services (CSS) program is increasing its presence in our communities for families. Last week, CSS hosted a free clothing event at Laurel Creek Apartments in partnership with Goodwill and Dress for Success.

The bond between Bethany Lutheran Church and residents of Homestead Oaks Apartments gets stronger with every Supper Club. On Thursday, volunteers served sloppy joe dinners. It was family night so residents went home with potted flowers to bring the joy of spring to their homes.
Yes, there was music and dancing at the Skyline Terrace Block Party, and some of the attendees showed off some great moves! This is a fun event every year for our single adult residents.
