For those just tuning in to the staffing drama in NYC schools, the explanation is simple: DOE recently told schools they needed 3 sets of teachers instead of 1, so principals are trying to solve an impossible math problem

If you have a child in public school. Make the right choice and go full remote. Blended learning is a nightmare on all ends and the kids will ultimately lose out. “Our” politicians have very clearly failed us and expect teachers to be magicians 🙃 #edchat#educhat#TedTalk
Unfortunately, I am being punished for being an in-person teacher. Those that are fully remote are not given this extra burden. Should I have asked my doctor for a health accommodation to stay home? My students and I are hurting from the negligence of @DOEChancellor@NYCMayor.
Everyone is complaining about NYC schools opening & the virus. Let’s talk about how I’ve been assigned the roles of 2 teachers. How am I supposed to teach 5 year olds virtually when I’m also teaching them in person?
Ultimately, this is a big disservice to our students. They will only be getting 3 days of instruction. “Blended” students really got fucked here. Don’t let anyone tell you different. NYC parents should choose for their children to go remotely, or they will lose out on instruction
My favorite thing ever is when people say that college brainwashes you into being liberal. It’s almost as if....education...gives you perspective you otherwise wouldn’t have...and teaches you to think in different ways...and see things from other people’s shoes???
