@LinkofSunshine I can only assume that the people who voted yes either assumed they got prep time, have a betting addiction they can now fix their bets on, or were simply already wealthy
I was a student, even leveraging insane stock growths like Nvidia gets nowhere close to 100mil from there
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?
"well if everyone was simply rational and..." most people are not strictly rational! most people are not strictly self interested! pressing red consigns the most selfless people to death!
red requires 100% compliance for everyone to survive, blue requires only >50%
everyone arguing for red can only think of it in terms of having a gun to their head, and pressing red makes the gun go away
everyone arguing for blue sees those that would argue for red as the ones holding guns to their heads

@LinkofSunshine everyone talking about it being stupid to press the "you die unless 4 billion people also press the button" and not "some percent of other people die unless 8 billion+ also press the button"
one of the downsides of mtg being the first (and also the best) big card game is that every subsequent card game falls for Garfield’s Trick: thinking that “mana” must be included in the game at all
if I'm looking for a challenging game, I want that to be integrated to the main experience
having the main experience by a mindless theme park ride then presenting me with crazy optional challenge content afterwards is just kinda boring
but sure, if you're playing mindless cool moments power fantasy then yeah sure, getting your turn skipped is not a fun or interesting thing in the game...
idk talk to me when you want to play a game with consequences and a risk of failure instead of a theme park ride
why are people so afraid of hard CC... if you're actually playing a game and not just rolling dice to see who gets to have the cool epic moment this round, getting hit with hard CC should be a big "oh shit" moment where the rest of the party has to scramble to save their friend
