@DottO_Ott you’re absolutely right, though… at least twice in s5, killing him would be a total no-brainer for someone more reasonable. fortunately, Henry’s s5 plan (if such a thing ever existed) was built on anything but reason

@rapistcreel and then they did nothing with it 😭 took a truly inexplicable route w/the whole “why kids” question, too. can’t believe Henry (who watched Brenner manipulate his child subjects for years) had to meet Will to consider kids might be malleable, & Will himself was nothing special

I’ve recently begun to think of Will’s s1-2 suffering as a depiction of SA severed into two components. the s1 vine impregnation is the physical part of violation, his s2 account of the MF taking him (“I felt it everywhere”, etc) is the mental/emotional part.

@rapistcreel yeah I agree, TFS was def not the deciding factor here. I think it also didn’t help that they dropped the 5 minutes a couple of weeks before the rest of vol1, so fandom had some time to really contemplate that in isolation? if that makes sense

@rapistcreel oh absolutely. it was a not-uncommon idea in reactions to s4 from right after the release… and then it fell off once the first 5 mins of s5 reframed the vine assault as explicitly his doing.
(and maybe TFS coming out between s4 and s5 had something to do with it, too)

@wiseoneflayed @DottO_Ott I’ll forever mourn the timeline where s5 revealed Will was (a part of) the reason why the UD is frozen as a copy of 1983 Hawkins. if he’s canonically Henry’s builder, let them build this together <3
