The largest amphibious invasion in human history began in the dark.
At dawn on June 6, 1944, nearly 7,000 vessels carrying 160,000 Allied troops closed in on the beaches of Normandy.
Through courage and sacrifice, they secured a foothold in Nazi-occupied France and began the liberation of Western Europe.
Today, we honor the heroes of D-Day.

There was a broke, alienated teenager from rural Illinois, making backyard movies with an 8mm camera, who somehow ended up inside Industrial Light & Magic and watched an unfinished work print of Star Wars before anyone outside the production had seen a single frame.
He was the first fan. Ever.
A https://t.co/NwXohmorH8 Original written and directed by the actual man it happened to, Patrick Read Johnson @moonwatcher1. And it is extraordinary.

This is incredible. The new @NASA image release from #Artemis includes a sequence of 'Hello World' still photographs.
I've been processing / animating them and here's what the original didn't show us:
Satellites, including their solar arrays, lightning storms
and dancing aurora!
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
Stop-motion is the most labor-intensive animation technique in existence.
Every single frame is crafted by hand. Every movement is deliberate. Nothing is accidental.
That's why these films have a texture and soul that CGI still can't replicate.

"The gratitude of seeing what we saw, doing what we did… it’s too big to just be in one body."
