A tropical depression drifting erratically in the northern Gulf of Mexico is expected to strengthen later Monday with rain that could trigger flooding and winds capable of downing trees and power lines in several states this week. https://t.co/yYidmtvhb3
This puppy is perfect! Just going through those puppy stages right now. Day one he was on his best behavior – on day two his sass entered the chat and his jerkburger self was revealed. 🤣
All is well. I know that we are going to have a wonderful life together. When he calms down from his +20 spirit boosts, he is an absolute angel. He wants to be with me all the time.
My chocolate Labrador Torii and Bruno get along wonderfully. 😊
In re: The Odyssey - I’ve learned a lot in Film School as a screenwriter and the whole thing about adaptations is actually challenging yourself to be creative… Not to give something exactly like a book. Adapting is to change it (by definition) for a film. This is something that a lot of people can’t stand – but in the world of the film it is absolutely understood.
It’s totally valid to hate it because it deviates from what you enjoy about a story, but it’s still the purpose of an adaptation.
For three months it was a project for us to adapt a short story into a film. If we didn’t exercise our creative muscle with the challenge of those changes, our grades would reflect. It took a while for many people to understand, feel comfortable with that, and make it happen. But I learned a lot.
Not only did I learn a lot with adaptations – but with movies in general, I look at them completely different now even when I thought I was already doing so… I love the new lens that I see through.
A film should completely stand on its own aside from any book it may come from.
Again, it’s valid to dislike any form of art, but you should watch films with the expectation that it’s not going to be what you read. You may think you’re a “movie buff” – but that has a lot of limits when you don’t understand and aren’t willing to understand the whole process and the abilities and ***expectation*** of a screenwriter with adapting. And adapting also applies to remakes.
I’m going to watch it and I’m pretty damn sure I will love it because Christopher Nolan is a genius. Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer- his masterpieces speak for themselves and it’s fine if you don’t care to watch this one. It doesn’t trigger me in any way… And I’m really glad I will have another example of his virtuoso to use as inspiration.
I honestly don’t care if you read this and still don’t get it. It’s why there are so very few people I can discuss films with. It’s a pretty exclusive realm of connoisseurs/cognoscenti. Unfortunately. 🤷🏻♀️
