@launchpack1@TaoStein @mahoganysaid I'm not suggesting anything, just wondering how this "prohibition" can be inforced in these circumstances. Are we just taking the jurors' word for it? Imagine the harassment they would've faced if they didn't adhere to public opinion. They had to unanimously vote this way
@CookVann @mahoganysaid I don't think it's an issue of men vs women but of society vs victims. Also, I'm aware of Emmet Till's story, it's devastating. There the issue is of racisim, however. The word of a disenfranchised black man vs the word of a white woman
@CookVann @mahoganysaid I'm really sorry that happened to you, but thank you for sharing. Male abusers face none to very little repercussions, and victims are often punished for coming forward. Institutions like the millitary regularly cover up abuse to protect their own. It's an issue of corruption too
@ashedskeleton@MartyGoneFly @vibracius @mahoganysaid Don't worry, he'll be back to making his movies in no time. Allegations don't stick to men for long. Even without this trial everyone would've brushed them off quickly enough and welcomed him back with open arms.
@MartyGoneFly @vibracius @mahoganysaid Didn't say that. I don't want to repress anyone's voice. Victims of abuse are of all genders and races obviously. You glossed over the rich and powerful part, though.
@EmilyAnita65 @mahoganysaid Good for you! I do, too. But most people don't and will continue more insistently than ever to equate every woman accusing a man, with painted bruises, crocodile tears and lying for attention, regardless of the truth, because of the precedent this trial will set.
@vibracius @mahoganysaid I'm terribly sorry you and your son experienced this. I'm glad you felt seen and given a voice. But a rich and influential white man's voice is far from being silenced.
@TravisAlexPhoto @mahoganysaid I'm sorry this happened to you. It is not my intention to invalidate male victims of abuse. I'm not saying men shouldn't be believed, nor that women abusers shouldn't be held accountable. Only that this media fiasco might have negative effects in the future.
@CookVann @mahoganysaid Give me one example of a man whose career was irreparably damaged by allegations of abuse proven or not. They all seem to be thriving. Men are way too concerned with this imagined threat to their careers and reputations, and not enough with not abusing people in the first place.
@TaoStein @mahoganysaid I'm not trying to be petty, I don't support either of them. I just expressed my view. I hope I'm a bad prophet and it encourages more victims of abuse of any gender to share their stories. Thank you for discussing this with me civilly
@EmilyAnita65 @mahoganysaid My point is that painting a woman to be the devil incarnate isn't helping any victims' cases. People will now point to accusers and call them the next Amber Heard. Either way men still wouldn't report out of fear of seeming weak.
@EmilyAnita65 @mahoganysaid I didn't say women don't lie. Obviously men are abused by women. No one is of the opinion that women never lie, it's still pretty hard for women's allegations of abuse to be taken seriously. For male abuse victims it's even harder. But that has more to do with society's idea that
