@lady_valor_07 My pick would be “There Will be Blood”. Why is a character study about a violent, murderous sociopath compelling…though Daniel Day Lewis did sell the part.
Also: “American Beauty”: we get it: white, middle-class suburbanites carry dark secrets! Ho-hum!
@MiloRussell18@lady_valor_07 “Royale with cheeeeeeeese.” I guess people in 1994 had never seen anything like “Pulp Fiction” before, and thought it was genius. Tarantino can have his characters engage in witty banter, but some viewers don’t like too much banter, witty or otherwise.
@Matt_Moros@lady_valor_07 A pedestrian love story that won a billion Oscars and made over a billion dollars. “Titanic” was the most overrated, overhyped movie in history. I will say that the hype was colossal—there was nothing like it since “Star Wars”—and there’ll be nothing like it again.
@TeslaBarbarian@lady_valor_07 We already had Disney’s “Pocahontas” and “Ferngully”; we didn’t need to see both mushed together…in space! “Unobtanium”—really, you’re going to call it that?
