Climbing in the areas we love would not be possible without the hard work of those that find and bolt new lines whilst forging lasting relationships with local people.

Like a window to hell! 😱
While doing @glamos_ch fieldwork today, there was time to marvel at the immense periglacial landslide from 14 April.
Incredible masses of rock and ice have completely re-sculpted the landscape. It will not be the same again...
My latest for @climate. The golden era of European mountaineering is coming to an end. Climate change is making iconic climbs like Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn more dangerous. Guides are raising the alarm. Free to read: https://t.co/WvHIKG0rjF
Slightly late, here's my anniversary piece on the 3.11 disaster. I talked to fishermen about the plan to dump wastewater from the Fukushima Daichi plant into the sea. As you can imagine, they're very unhappy about this plan: https://t.co/mgnRephHje

Yesterday’s supremely satisfying ski descent of Kashimayari - 鹿島槍ヶ岳 (aka Big Boss). A wind ravaged ridge line with bus-sized cornices, spooky wind slab on our preferred ski line and tight gullies leading to the valley below made for an intimidating day in the mountains. ☑️
Sometimes (very rarely) everything lines up and you get the right weather, perfect snow (fun & safe) and a body that is willing to take you where the mind and heart so often to wandered. Winter ski descent of Shakushidake (杓子岳) and the last of the Hakuba Sanzan ✅. What a day!
When economic development causes #biodiversity loss, who is responsible for #conservation?
