Yes! Simple soil and water management methods — known as in-situ moisture conservation techniques — can help farmers sustain productivity even under water stress.

With unpredictable and intense rainfall becoming more common due to climate change, these practices make every drop count:

- Broad Bed and Furrow (BBF) – Helps conserve rainwater, drain excess water, and improve aeration around roots.
- Contour Ridges & Furrows – Reduces soil erosion and improves water retention.
- Furrows After Sowing – Allows deeper percolation of rainwater, improving soil moisture.
- Compartment Bunding – Creates large beds that conserve water for the next crop.
- Cover Crops – Crops like groundnut and cowpea reduce evaporation and protect the soil.

Small changes. Big impact.
