Today I join others from across our game and call for Gianni Infantino to resign as FIFA President.

Infantino has debased the office that he promised to elevate. He has lied, deceived and tried to feather his own nest at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve. 

He has lost the support of his senior staff, his closest advisers, the vast majority of people who devote their lives to this sport and even, it would seem, the FIFA Peace Prize winner.

🗣️Zlatan Ibrahimović: Yes, absolutely. I have been a fan of Lionel Messi for years, and I have always considered him one of the greatest footballers of all time. But what happened at the World Cup looked like robbery, match after match.

They couldn’t hide it, and it made me lose interest in watching Argentina’s games. I think almost every team they played against complained about the refereeing, from the group stage all the way to the final, so I can’t simply dismiss it as a coincidence. It looked very much like everything was planned for them to win.

If Ronaldo’s Portugal had received similar treatment, he probably would have won the World Cup too. I think it has stained Messi’s legacy to some extent, but that’s ultimately for people to decide. For me, however, Argentina’s World Cup campaign was nothing close to being fair.
