3. Get lucky.

Ultimately we cannot control what happens on the pitch. Many times the margins are fine.

You need a huge amount of luck to achieve an exceptional rank in one season.

But exceptional ranks across multiple seasons implies exceptional skill.

I played with Solio to see what was "optimal". I discovered that a huge range of chip strategies and squads were within a few xpts of each other.

This means you can win or do extremely well with almost any approach.

2. Form.

Form is basically the eye test (xGI) combined with output (GI). You need to pick up players during these streaks and even better, captain them.

1. The Eye test. Consider Gabriel vs Calafiori or White. Those two looked amazing in the Charity Shield. Gabriel didn't do anything.

The eye test suggested 2 players with lower xpts. And the eye test won against Coventry. Odegaard and Tzolis are further proof.

What you need to do is own the right players at the right times.

For example there may be 5 defenders all within 0.2 xpts of each other, but one scores 15 and the other 2.
