Watching @ShawnDTCG and @AlanzqTFT is legit such a pleasure. Both players are at such a high level they can joke and just know the correct plays and targets.
I really wanna get back into deadlock but the urn changes and no "open" beta announcement or launch date really kinda hurts my will to relearn everything if its just gonna change dramatically before launch.
(1) Something I really hope riftbound will address soon is the problem with rules and communication. Currently as a judge, reading the card is only half of understanding how the game works. With the abundance of erratas, importants of keywords (When, If, Then)
(4) This lack of clarity makes it extremely difficult as a judge to have to give a ruling to a player and the ruling is from an unofficial FAQ or a discord thread rather than an official riot branded source and makes the ruling look like a non-credible source.
@DeathyDL They can leave it mid but put it up in a big tower. And then make the game 4 lanes and then make some big changes like side teleporters.... Wait a minute
@CTCGVillionaire Surprised they don't get looped into China or another country closer. Making them go to EU or NA with current flight tickets is uhhhhhhh...... Ouch
Aurora doesn't have to be a problem in set 3. The problem is how fast you can ramp to Aurora runes. I don't care if Aurora can constantly have it if it takes them 4-5 turns to get it online. Mobilize+ catalyst + Aurora is just not fun because you know you lose if they have it
@davetron@joleary Is there a way to have this update on the rules hub to make judging easier. People will flock to the rules hub for this. Official post will make it less confusing til Vendetta.
Big disagree with this. Nothing in the rules concretely says one way or another. There is ambiguity which is why people are confused.
Riot had the chance just like with other rulings to do what they intended to happen with the rule. (Tideturner in set 1 as an example).
Very confused at the logic here.
Here’s how we punted the finals of the RQ.
I’ve seen a lot of “you should’ve Hard Bargain’d Ride the Wind” takes but the real mistake happened earlier: not leading with Falling Star.
Some key context people might be missing:
We are going to 7 runes for the turn and had already mapped out our line on Prismat’s turn based on our hand. We knew he had Annie (we Rebuked it earlier), which meant Forerunner wasn’t holding once Annie picks up Rebuke. So the plan was to play Draven and double hold.
Then we draw Falling Star for turn and this is where we mess up.
We tunnel on our pre-planned line and don’t fully re-evaluate with the new information.
The better line: lead with Falling Star → Conquer → then still deploy Draven on Battlefield, forcing Prismat to answer two threats.
Instead, we attacked first and gave him the window to Ride the Wind. The second it happened, we realized the mistake.
Now we re-evaluate. What do we do here? If we burn our hard bargain, we can’t double hold with Draven.
At that point, we’re just praying he doesn’t find Rengar in two draws (Merchant + Conquer). We’re pretty confident he doesn’t already have Rengar since he had opportunities to play him earlier but didn’t have it.
From there: Falling Star, hope he bricks, and hold for game.
Also worth noting, we didn’t know we’d hit a second Hard Bargain off Conquer. If we did, then we can have a discussion on if we should Hard Bargain the Ride the Wind.
Credit to @Prismaticismism for playing to his outs, well deserved.
@Minh_Wins , @Collinka , and I are going to VOD review this and more from the event soon for a tournament recap video. Excited to break it all down further.
Shoutout to @Challengertcg for all the boys just crushing this weekend. So proud of us.
